Art Deco Necklace. Multi Strand. Length 18 inches. An impressive accent of channel-set rhinestones and early plastic disk spacers rests at 3 o'clock on this elegant 4-strand necklace. The glass beads are a very lustrous dark green. They resemble jadite/nephrite jade, however because of the uniformity of color I do believe they are glass - very beautiful old glass. With a lighted loupe 3 small rhinestones were detected missing from the clasp. The clasp mechanism itself is in perfect working order. Brooch measures 2 inches long by 1 inch. The beads on the brooch are wired to a plastic back. See photo below. Condition would be considered excellent on this period set. (For full picture, please click on gallery photo on the left.)

Molded to appear 'carved' this Victorian mourning bracelet is made from vulcanite, a very early form of plastic, made by vulcanizing (treating) natural tree rubber with sulfur. Vulcanite was popular in the later decades of the 19th and early 20th century because of its black 'mourning' color and its relative inexpensiveness compared to Jet.
While Jet stays shiny, vulcanite develops a worn patina over time - click on thumbnail for a close-up of patina.
Opening measures 2 1/2" in diameter. Approximate thickness is just over 1/4 of an inch. Condition is excellent.

Victorian watch chain and fob. Most of these were made for men. This one is unusually feminine. The fob piece is a horse-shoe, a very popular good luck charm in the late Victorian age, but ornamented with a pretty bow and flower. Both sides of the fob are exactly the same. The chain is especially lovely incorporating mesh and a segment which twists around an inner bar. I have not found a mark. Some components may be gold filled or a low karat gold.
